When Perception Plays
Everyone’s life hinges on reality but let us not overlook the brazen fact that many more variables shape up reality and amongst others, perception plays. Like it or not, perception comes from all corners, all quarters even with you yourself totally oblivious about it.
Let’s play with these samplings.
When you hear that a certain product is made in China, what pops into your mind ? When you hear that a Rolex watch was bought in Thailand, what gets you to conclude as quickly as 1-2-3 ? Whereas when you are gifted with a bar coded product manufactured from anywhere in the U.S.A., very likely you are singing Hossanahs.
Question that could stump us is this: How can reality come out in a distorted and sometimes fabricated picture ? Why is a genuine product deemed a lemon outright ? And why are all bar-coded products from the U.S.A. seem to be placed in a high pedestal, in a lofty place ?
It’s all perception, this is perception management. What makes matters worse is that quite often, what is perceived may be different to what is claimed and what is claimed may be different from reality. So where’s the catch ? Often, we are our worst enemy. The manner we spew words straight from our mouth and the way we perform an action are the deepest reservoirs of perceptions.
So, what is the antidote to all these so that we could live lives that stand up to truism, to the truth and to the reality ? Be true to yourself, be genuine in every move you take, be sincere in every word you utter. If you pursue that path, anyone’s perception about you will be much closer to reality and the truth itself.
In today’s raging pandemic, why are datasets of some countries are accepted as gospel truth whereas datasets from China and other countries we’d rather remain unnamed are tagged as ‘garbage data’ up front ? it’s all because of perception management.
To quote Roberto Bolano: “ PEOPLE SEE WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE AND WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO SEE NEVER HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TRUTH”. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
