Absence is Presence: SALUTE to our WORKING MOMs
This piece is a tribute to our moms left at home as 'jack of all trades' and credit goes to them over time for the resiliency of our families as they weathered many storms in their lives. Fast-forward, we've witnessed throngs of moms constrained to work overseas as OFWs at the expense of their kids left to the care of extended families and surrogate parents.
Either way, moms are unquestionably the pillars of our families because our families survived trials and tribulations, leaving our kids unscathed. Take away those pillars and homes will crumble to the ground.
That knack to masterfully thread that fine line between father and mother all rolled into one is simply mind boggling. And even for our moms who, since Day-1, have remained full-fledged moms, we could have not asked for more because our moms are the first to wake up and the last to hit the sack.
And even when they become full-fledged members of the workforce, more often, there remains a huge gap in their earning power as compared to their male counterparts. But we never heard them rise up in arms for that market inequality. To them, what mattered most is bringing home whatever earnings for their family's rice bowl.
Fast-forward to this global pandemic when everyone's at home, who carries the burden from dawn till dusk? It's still our tireless mom who have remained to be the workforce inside out, covid or non-covid.
Our snappy salute to our unflappable moms and spouse for remaining steadfast as the steadying force of equilibrium.
