Earn Your Stripes Before You can 'Break the Glass Ceiling'
Pilots seem to have one of the most prestigious and most
lucrative job one can ever dream of. But do you know they heavily invested for them to reach the zenith of their career? Only after investing hundreds of flying hours [starting when they were enrolled in a Flying School] and overcoming roadblocks after roadblocks, that's only when they get to earn their stripes. And that’s when you can achieve that feat of breaking the glass ceiling.
How about us? We don’t need to be a pilot. That could just be our pipe dream but hell no, we can even reach unprecedented heights leapfrogging that successful pilot! But what does it take to get that far? It needs us to summon all the self-motivation we can have to push ourselves. That means summoning anything and everything we have. More than that, it’s exacting and demanding from us anything else which we do not have in our capabilities.
This means, knowing what we don’t know. Having what we don’t have. And harnessing ourselves to acquire that essential knowledge that can be the catalyst in our success. Heard of southpaw boxers? They know their handicap so they develop their right-throwing prowess, and more often, their right jabs even end up much more lethal than just being a southpaw.
If you take those safari tours in South Africa, you would see how the zebras and tigers become standouts in the wild. Despite the literal stripes they have, they keep sharpening their best weapons as their very tools to survive out there in the wild.
Are you that LAIDBACK? PASSIVE? Or to put it bluntly, does sheer laziness run through your veins? C’mon, we’re in this Covid pandemic. If we need to recast ourselves and reinvent ourselves, go for it and give it your best shot. You may be surprised, you may end up uncorking capabilities hitherto unknown even to yourself.
At the end of the date, after toiling all throughout your lifetime, when you reach that apex point, all the accolades to be heaped on you will proved that you have finally reaped the fruits of your hard[est] work ever.
