Injustice in Justice

Injustice in Justice

Is there justice in this world? Yesirrrr, there is. Even in tightly reined communist states like Hegemonic China and the hermit kingdom of North Korea, they will all claim there is justice in their country. Now, is there a two-tiered justice system too? Absolutely, there is. This is a fact of life.

Where there is the upper strata of society, there are the laggards, the doormats of society. Where there is a segment in the corridors of power, there is the powerless, those who have either fallen off from grace or the predecessors of the current power wielders.

If there is a country I admire so much, that is Malaysia. Two weeks ago, its former prime minister, Najib Razak, was found guilty in the initial seven multi billion [RM] corruption cases. How can justice be so swift? Those cases were lodged just over two years ago immediately after Najib Razak's UMNO party lost the last GE [General Elections].

Last week, its former Finance Minister, Guan Eng was grilled for more than sixteen hours across two days. Upon conclusion of the marathon investigation, Guan Eng was arrested. Three days ago, his wife ended up with the same fate. She went through a gruelling whole-day investigation and the next day, she got arrested and locked up as well.

What all these will tell us is that 'normalizing injustice' does not have a place in our civilized societies. Have we seen governments who would IMMEDIATELY form a task force to [purportedly] investigate a new corruption charge but when that headline gets buried over time by either a fearful or subservient media, when will you hear again about those cases? Sadly I doubt it you will hear again even tidbits of progressive updates. I bet, 'high profile' cases that will be so damaging to the powers that-be will be archived till it gathers dust in the archives.

Where do we go from here? Honestly, i dunno so i'll take AOTA [all of the above] as the safest answer. As a country, we could end up either OVER THERE, SOMEWHERE or NOWHERE. Not to be a modern day Nostradamus, my take is, it will take several generations before this culture gets cleansed from all the unwanted viruses that has been infecting it, no thanks to the leaders and politicians now running the show along the corridors of power.
