K-Pop BTS Group Has Spoken
Not long after Blackpink, the South Korean Girl Group took us by storm when their albums did break tons of Billboard records, the K-Pop BTS Group took over. But when BTS lorded it year over year, it was beyond the realm of music.
As UNICEF Ambassadors of Goodwill, when they were invited to the United Nations Headquarters, RM, the group's leader and most articulate bilingual wrapped up his insightful and inspirational speech at the U.N. by vociferously articulating this: "I'd like to ask all of you, what is your name? What excites you and makes your heart beat? Tell me your story. I want to hear your voice and hear your conviction. No matter who you are. where you're from, your skin color, your gender identity, just speak yourself".
OMG, that was a mouthful but without splitting hairs, RM was bluntly telling us, the whole world that despite the technology of filtering, don’t filter yourself, don’t think of something yet you don’t take the next logical step, don’t start off that eerie silence if there is an inner voice within you who needs to speak up.
Frankly, our worst enemy is ourselves. When we over-stretch that filtering technology by even filtering our thoughts and our conviction, we are losing by default, we are missing out that opportunity to be genuine and honest enough not just to ourselves but to our community, our country.
