The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts

'The Whole is Greater than the Sum of its Parts'

Quoting the Greek Philosopher, Aristotle: 'The whole is greater than the sum of its part' has often puzzled and confused more even when folks end up in a healthy debate as to whether this statement holds water in the first place.

Which reminds me of The Synergy, my first office destination in Singapore two decades back. All along, Aristotle quotable quote reminds me of that Synergy Office Building because akin to sports events, this echoes "T-E-A-M", the common acronym for TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE.

Lest we are thrown away by the mathematicians, what this tells us is that when all the parts are pieced together and pursue things in euphony and in a synchronized manner, it could result to more than just getting the sum of all the pieces.

Makes sense? Probably nyet. Fine, Let's relook at a typical family structure. The father has a role to play and so is the mom and so is the child. But once they strategize and draw up their plans in life, combining their inputs together to shape up their common vision for their family can end up having a grandiose plan for the family to embark.

That old school of thought that the father, as the head of the family, has the monopoly of things to solely 'run the show' for the family is simply obsolete and with no intrinsic value these days. Why? Let's borrow the old cliche, 'two heads are better than one'. That has been proven true hundreds of zillion times over.

What can explain when sometimes we hear 'horror' stories of a family's storyline has ran like a train-wreck? The common culprit there is that only one, and likely the father of the family, solely running the show while the wife has been relegated to no more than a nominal role in the family, more on the fringes.

C'mon, let's dump that off as things will get doomed before even it could take off. With this covid pandemic, it's 'all hands on deck!'. All families need to pool everything together.

Straight from my thought processes...
