MAKE TIME if you got NO TIME
You may not have a penny left for food. And just nothing for petrol to gas up your car. Or even on that need to settle your bills.
Lucky you, you don’t have the worst problem in your hands if those are the immediate problems confronting you now. But if TIME is your problem, that’s the worst predicament someone can ever get into. WHY ? Because you can’t buy TIME. You can’t even borrow it. You can’t even have a free ride with TIME.
I used to work with a senior executive in one of the global banks who was known quite well not only in Singapore but even at the regional office in Hong Kong as a tough taskmaster. One day, we had this bank officer who simply refuses to move his ass because he swears the he “does not have time”. My boss simply retorted back, “You don’t have time ? Make time !”
Whereas, just a few months back prior to the pandemic lockdown, the famous Fil-Am Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra was asked by the media how he envisions his team to have that path towards the NBA Playoffs leading to a longshot chance for the NBA Championship, Coach Erik retorted back “We have enough” ! Sadly, those two contrasting responses is analogous to night versus day.
Let’s face it. Tom may declare he’s got no time while Dick confesses he knows he got time but can’t figure it out. Either way, Tom and Dick are very much on the same boat. John Wooden says, “If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have the time to do it over” ?
Swing to the other end of the spectrum and let’s quote the revered Buddha saying “The trouble is, you think you have time” ! Oh c’mon, these are the optimists day-in day-out. They are those oblivious souls who seem to live atop that ivory tower and all they across are the strawberry fields and not the parched tracts of land where the crops are withering under the blistering heat of summer.
The late Apple Genius, the late Steve Jobs attested as follows: “Your time is limited. So don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
Whew, that’s a mouthful from Steve Jobs. Very well said.
Does this sound familiar ? Before someone makes a move, he looks around, weighing what the people around will react when he makes his move. Have you been in a community where you are surrounded by a busybody, a meddler, an encroacher, a nuisance, a trespasser or just a plain snooper ? Oh, please please please don’t give them the slightest attention because they will drive you into a topsy-turvy world turned upside down.
Bryant McGill puts a stop to all these bedlam and confusion when he declares, “Quit saying you don’t have time . You have time for what you make time for in life”.
