What is a Pyrrhic Victory

What is a Pyrrhic Victory ?

Oooops, you're in the right channel. This is not Disney's Cartoon Network. We wanna slice and dice what PYRRHIC VICTORY means.

And this is the BORING definition of Pyrrhic Victory. In very simple terms, this is claiming to win something when that win is either empty, hollow or premature at the very least. We can rattle off classic cases of these pyrrhic victories in history but we'd like to be relevant and stick it out to the 2020 events.

Heard about the US Democrat's Joe Biden who's comfortably ahead of President Trump the polls for the November elections. He could likely take over the White House but NOT because of his owwn merits but likely because of Trump's demerits. And not to mention the latest dark clouds hovering his campaign in view of that sex scandal he's now embroiled. Borrowed this FoxNews snapshot of the beleaguered Biden.

In Singapore, the ruling PAP has lorded it over [again] in last week's general election but what does that mean when the PAP won just 61% of the popular vote despite winning 89% of the parliament seats ?

In Turkey, President Erdogan threatened an assault of Syria and went over to meet up Russia's Putin for 6 hours alongside 50 of his ministers only to pitifully end up like sycophants of Kremlin as Putin hardly blinked.

Now let's zoom-in to the world's common foe these days, the coronavirus. How many governments and leaders have claimed victory over this pandemic. Call it FLATTED. Call it BENDING. Call it whatever. Be it in Germany, Spain or even in Southeast Asia, who can claim victory now over the pandemic ?

Instead of getting into premature hallelujahs, we just need our naked eyes to absorb all the hard and harsh lessons brought about by this pandemic. Lessons from within us, from across our families, our communities, our governments, our leaders. After five difficult months, please don't unbuckle your seat belt as the rough and tumble part of our journey has just began.

Straight from my thought processes...

Is CONSISTENCY An Issue?

Is CONSISTENCY An Issue? Is CONSISTENCY An Issue?  Me thinks, it is a legitimate issue.  As we all know, some of us prefer to take SMALL STE...
