What 'HIGH PRICE' Are We Paying Off [For All Those Distractions]?

PRICES are going up everywhere, not to mention the Israel-Iran War triggering the $$$$ price per oil barrel.  BUT there's another PRICE and that's the PRICE we need to involuntarily pay for all the DISTRACTIONS we're facing these days, NOT our fault BTW.  BUT many times, we're NOT just another accomplice BUT at times we could be LIKE the most guilty party.  LIKE WHEN you unlock your smartphone to check on notifications and an hour later, you realized you really CAN'T remember WHY you picked it up in the first place??? NO, if at all, you're NOT the only guilty party because it happens to everyone [and I'm one of the guilty parties as well]πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’œ

NOT surprising and definitely NOT worth to be a narrative anymore WHEN we feel like our days seem to have vanished between notifications, open tabs and even half-finished tasks.  For those WHO suspect, even if they CAN'T explain it, that something is OFF with the frantic pace of life that our societies seemed to have normalized.  Instead, WHAT's kind of bothersome is that HIGH COSTs of DISTRACTIONSπŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯
No need for us to look farther.  Our friend, Mr ChatGPT says that, statistically, DISTRACTIONS total a whopping $650 bn annually in the United States alone.  BTW, the quantified DISTRACTIONS here are business-related.  It does NOT encompass your own DISTRACTIONs at home, LIKE a family member damaged the Sony Bravia LCD OR the split-type aircon malfunctioned OR you were driving WHILE texting and driving until you side-swept another vehicle, LIKE your child was reminding you that today is the deadline for the school payment tuition [else he will NOT be allowed in the exams & indeed that cost him bigtime]!!!
In a nutshell, DISTRACTIONS are NOT just impacting business enterprises BUT also, there are [unpublished and unquantified] costs even to our daily life.  Let's face it, some DISTRACTIONS are way beyond our control [and let's leave it at that], LIKE WHEN your next door neighbor is playing his audio system with the maximum decibels.  BUT there are tons of DISTRACTIONS WHERE we have very much control and influence.  LIKE always holding on to our smartphone except WHEN you're taking the shower.  LIKE WHEN your partner/spouse is talking to you on something serious BUT your mind [and your ears, in fact] are somewhere else and the concern raised was urgent and critical😑😑😑
Our takeaway:  WHEN DISTRACTIONS happen, we would see people shrugging off their shoulders AS IF those DISTRACTIONS are outliers and one-off!@#$%? NOT until, knock on wood, a certain DISTRACTION causes serious consequences OR damage on either something OR situation, LIKE a worker getting fired from the job because of recurring mistakes and he hit the 3-strike rule.  That's the worst part, WHEN DISTRACTIONS get embedded within you UNTIL it becomes part of your behavior and self-displine, ouch😑😑😑
