Still Anticipating Outcomes?


As the old school has taught us, there is always an answer to all the problems and difficulties that we do struggle with BUT because the answer is so obvious, we very rarely see it.  WHAT happens WHEN we DON'T see it is that we get locked into thinking about the problem we face, sometimes over and over again.  We then end up anticipating.  Really, Still Anticipating Outcomes?  That's the thing, we end up stuck in that vulnerable process and we end up in doing things WHICH DON'T actually help as such but instead, it just seems to produce more uncertainty, doubt and indecision๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Even during those times WHEN we seem to be convinced that we know WHAT is going to happen next, we still DON'T let it go, instead we keep at it and at it like a dog with a particularly juicy bone.  Then, our 'mental jaws' just keep working away at the problem even WHEN we know we CAN'T fix it❌❌❌

if only we can break it and put to a halt our process of thinking about HOW bad a problem is, it DOESN'T actually help us at all.  Psychologists claim instead that the more they did re-run that scenario, the more terrible they felt.  And the more they did play with all the possibilities, desperately trying to 'find our way out', the more LOCKED IN and caught up we become.  Thinking about the problem becomes part of the problem, in fact.  We could even say that it becomes the 'biggest part of the problem' itself.  So, WHEN the problem is our own selves trying vainly to fix our problem, that problem becomes us ourselves in trying to anticipate WHAT happens next and driving ourselves totally cracked as we do so.  So, WHAT's the not-so-secret answer?  It is NOT and NEVER TO ANTICIPATE THE OUTCOME at all๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Experts tell us that ANTICIPATING OUTCOMES is the fault, the glitch in the process that unfailingly ruins everything.  So, HOW do we ANTICIPATE OUTCOMES?  Now, if I say that I am NOT going to anticipate the OUTCOME, then it's likely that I already ANTICIPATED THE OUTCOME.   In the end, we could feel trapped in a closed loop of 'ANTICIPATING THAT WE WILL NOT ANTICIPATE' and that whole loop ends up as nothing else but another round of ANTICIPATION.  On the other hand, the other school of thought is that ANTICIPATION gets associated with a sense of well-being and even mental health benefits.  And that the pleasurable release of DOPAMINE in the brain happens WHEN we expect good OUTCOMES in the future๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
Our takeaway:  WHETHER you end up with POSITIVE or NEGATIVE ANTICIPATION, fact is our mind is wired for ANTICIPATION and better still, we evolve to have an enhanced capacity to form accurate expectations about the future so we could make better predictions instead of ending up with NEGATIVE ANTICIPATIONS❎❎❎

Practicing Gratitude


Earlier today, I dropped by the Shakey's restaurant near our neighborhood and I interacted with an on-duty supervisor WHO seems new to me [at least for that branch].  After giving her a spate of details regarding my inquiries and need for help, she DIDN'T waste time to attend to all my requests as she asked me to be seated.  Before I walked off, I asked for her full name and for transparency sake, I confided to her that I will be sending a customer feedback to their company and I'd like to commend her.  That was one small, minor and petty way of Practicing Gratitude๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Zillion times in the past and till to date, YES, I would admit that I do 'walk the talk', pitching and 'preaching' tirelessly the need for us to be PRACTICING GRATITUDE.  WHY?  For a zillion reasons and topping that mile-long list is that it cost ALMOST NOTHING to commend OR appreciate the good deeds of someone.  YES, PRACTICING GRATITUDE can be a 'game changer'.  It can have the far-reaching benefits and effects, from improving our own mental health to boosting our relationships with others.  I remember WHEN I was at the far-flung pineapple farms of Dole Food and our HP server got hit with a hardware problem and the only solution was to have a replacement part sourced out from Manila [which was a good 2 hours by air travel]!!!

WHAT did I do next?  I chartered a private plane and flew the HP engineer all the way down.  After our problem got fixed, come next day, I emailed a commendation to the HP country manager.  Months later, that HP engineer called me to thank me because he was promoted 2 levels up in the HP hierarchy.  YES, living your life with GRATITUDE does help us to notice those LITTLE WINS, like the bus showing up right on time, a stranger holding the door for you [especially if you literally got your hands full], OR the sun shining through your window WHEN you wake up next morning.  Let's think about of these SMALL MOMENTS and let us string them together to create a web of well-being that, over time, strengthens our ability to notice the good✅✅✅

As I am NOT an expert, allow me to refer to the experts' advice that 'BUILDING YOUR CAPACITY FOR GRATITUDE ISN'T DIFFICULT'.  And I CAN'T agree less because as I have done it through the years, it just takes PRACTICE.  And before you know it, you have developed that habit-forming GRATITUDE PRACTICE.  And the more you can bring your attention to that which you feel grateful, the more you'll notice to feel grateful for.  SO HOW?  Start by OBSERVING.  Notice the THANK YOUs you say and note how much of a habitual response is it๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

Our takeaway:  From a personal perspective, I'll share HOW I feel when PRACTICING GRATITUDE.  Firstly, I intentionally affirm the 'GOOD THINGS' or 'GOOD DEEDS' I experienced OR received.  And secondly, I acknowledge the role of the person[s] WHO were instrumental for me to experience such GOODNESS.  As an afterthought, minutes and hours and even days and months after, I feel good for PRACTISING GRATITUDE and that meant a lot for my mental health as well.  It's a low-hanging fruit for us to reap, dude WHEN we PRACTICE GRATITUDE๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

That DISTRACTION Breakthrough?

YES dude, DISTRACTIONS are everywhere BUT WHAT befuddles me is That DISTRACTION Breakthrough even as many of us remain steadfast to counter OR even resist it, to no avail [most of the time].  And this vicious cycle starts WHEN you are seated in front your laptop with all those pre-loaded apps all over your desktop.  UNLESS you get rid of those unnecessary apps and ever-present icons, let's agree HOW the tech companies have been successful to to draw our attention away from WHATEVER we're doing๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

WHAT does these all tell us?  The underlying principle remains and applies, WHICH is, the best way to help ourselves FOCUS is to 'CONTROL' our environment.  Wrongly, we tend to think of our workspace as simply a 'WORK LOCATION', period.  BUT frankly, that computer screen is an environment itself we do choose to enter, consciously OR unconsciously.  Thing is, there are a few things we can do proactively to make it a more FOCUSED zone for deep work, like even turning on 'DO NOT DISTURB' and cutting down on open tabs.  This reminds me of a colleague WHO, many times, 'shocked' me because she had one too many tabs open, whew!@#$?

Many researches even tell us that our 'wandering mind' is most often the hidden source of DISTRACTION. So, the problem at hand now is HOW can we remain in the PRESENT and be ENGAGED!  We tend to think that we are DISTRACTED because of the devices in our pocket, Instagram, Facebook, text messages, and the thousands of other notifications beckoning for our attention๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
But culling from a recent Harvard research, the very culprit [let's tag it as our very PROBLEM] ISN'T the environment, NOT even pointing to its chaos BUT [hold your breath!], it's our MINDS!  They found that the HUMAN MIND is actually wired for this state of continuous DISTRACTION.  Their study concluded that we spend 47 percent of every 'waking hour' with a 'WANDERING MIND'❎❎❎
Our takeaway:  WHETHER you are waiting at the airport departure gate waiting to board your flight BUT your mind keeps fantasizing about that dream position you're angling OR while onboard the Uber rental car, you're thinking about the recent emails from your boss you forgot to respond to.  We all know that state and it turns out to be the default mode of operation of our brain.  NO quick fix for this BUT once you notice your mind starts to 'WANDER', pull the brakes and if need be, 'shut off' your engine and RESET because that could be your DISTRACTION BREAKTHROUGH!!!

It's The Journey That Matters. HAVE FUN!


We all lead frenzied lives [and I'm very much one of the uber-guilty parties on that note] and most of the time, it seems it's NOT our fault at all.  I'm NOT washing off my hands from my guilt.  Having said this, the stark truth is from the time we were molded in school till we left the portals of our university, we were always taught and trained to set our goals in life and be goal-focused.  '   It's The Journey That Matters.  HAVE FUN!!! 

So, indeed we are forgetting to HAVE FUN in life!  At times, there are outliers like WHEN something tragic and traumatic happened in one's life, such that the NEGATIVE experience has caused that filtering.  True, some of us are so overwhelmed with commitments and obligations that they DON'T even recognize FUN even WHEN they are in front of it.  HOW often do we realize that a shared laugh, story OR experience, even with a stranger at that, improves the moods of everyone and  psychologists claim that holding on to the FUN memories can even make other painful experiences more bearable [if NOT less painful].  Of course, a zillion times we heard 'HAVE FUN' to a friend, family neighbor OR even a neighbor going off for a weekend๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

BUT let's face it, not everything is worth the 'HAVE FUN' expression because WHAT IF your friend is going to the dentist?  BUT we're missing a key point here.  Psychologists shared that in their studies, even activities like going for a haircut, looking for plants to add up in your own home garden, OR even activities you had to forgo a year ago.  Doing a lookup, dictionary tells us that FUN sets a relatively low bar for having FUN.  Like a bus tour of an unfamiliar city.  OR learning HOW to make bread in a cooking class as a novice is FUN and there's a mile-long list of stuff where we can get engaged and relive that FUN we used to have.  On the contrary, let's face it, there are activities we must do despite NOT having FUN, like waiting to renew your driver's license, listening to a long-winded speech in an event you DIDN'T feel attending BUT you succumbed to pressure.  Oh yes, the list of UNFUN situations seems to grow everyday❎❎❎

BUT here's the key question.  Do we pay attention to situations that provide amusement and enjoyment?  OR in response to our over-committed lives, those we are NOT even noticing WHEN something could be giving us pleasure?  YES, let's face it, there some of us WHO are unable to take pleasure in situations OR relationships that fit the definition of FUN.  Psychologists have termed ANHEDONIA as that manifestation of people having such inability to recognize and even enjoy FUN.  For people WHO feel incapable of even attempting to find pleasure, NOTHING brings them FUN and often, they would withdraw from social interactions OR activities because they feel it is pointless.  Yes, the experts linked ANHEDONIA to depression, anxiety and even post-traumatic stress disorder.  BUT to quote the experts, 'THAT INABILITY TO BE IMPERVIOUS TO EXPERIENCING PLEASURE CAN BE REVERSED WITH THE TREATMENT OF THESE DISORDERS'๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Our takeaway:  At this point, we need to realize that in life, purposely, we even organize events and encounters with others in the hope and anticipation that it will bring us FUN.  And unless something unexpected happens, we get enjoyment in such activities.  BUT the reality in life is that it is in the UNPLANNED events and encounters in life that often giving us the most joy.  Like a few years ago, I was walking alone in the bustling business district and suddenly, a guy walking opposite my direction suddenly hugged me and screaming my name at the same time.  Oh Oh, he was my classmate from yesteryears.  That was FUN no less.  Yes dude, it's THE JOURNEY THAT MATTERS.  HAVE FUN!!!

These days, you can never tell WHAT happens next.  You keep browsing and scrolling till you stumble across a picture that smittens you and WHAT happens next, only God knows once you get enamored.  BUT before you fall into it,  WHAT IF a picture is made with AI?  On the surface, there's nothing wrong when AI is used to craft pictures BUT once a vulnerable human falls for it, we can look forward to the next plot of the script๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Again, NOT to inject NEGATIVITIES in pictures because they are offshoots of the work of art, there is still a need to figure it out if the picture is made with AI so that one's level of appreciation will be at the correct perspective.  You might ask me, WHY do we bothered if a picture is made with AI?  We need to note that AI art ISN'T just a concept anymore.  It is everywhere and you've likely encountered it in the wild, WHETHER you knew it OR NOT.  As the technology for generating images continue to improve, it's more important than ever to learn HOW TO SPOT these AI-generated images.  WHY???

WHY?  So we DON'T get fooled by someone else faking photos.  So you are aware if you might breach a photo that is proprietary-owned if it's a watermarked AI-generated image [although till to date, technology companies are still working on it].  And currently, most AI art online is circulating without a clear label warning users that images are NOT real.  And in lieu of that, it is to our own interest that we can spot those FAKE images, if any, WHENEVER they might pop up in your feed๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

It may seem easy to take a look at a piece of AI art and assume the generator that produced it simply 'stitched' the piece together from a bunch of images in its database BUT in most cases, techies advise us that, that is NOT the case though.  And while AI art generators are trained on huge datasets of images, from arts to photographs, their tools CAN'T see those images the way we humans do๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Our takeaway:  Let's be incisive enough that regardless of the advances in technology, even AI tools break these images down to pixel by pixel.  It WON'T see an apple.  Instead, it will see a group of pixels and their values.  Overtime, it will learn that this grouping of these particular pixel values tends to be an apple.  Lastly, before you fall prey for the FAKED images, hold on and resist your emotions from spilling out because you might end up on the wrong side of things, be it ending up hating a hated character OR getting smitten head over heels over an image straight out of AI.  Happy browsing!!!

WHAT IF You're Talking To AI???

YES, surely you and me may have already had spoken with a conversational AI bot [and it's possible you were NOT even aware of it].  YES, a lot of communication these days happens over text.  And YES, you might even text back and forth with a match on a dating app OR message a company rep WHEN in need of customer service rather than speak on the phone with either party.  So, the question is,  WHAT IF You're Talking To AI Bot??? 

YES, conversational AI has come a long way in recent years and the introduction of chatbots like ChatGPT has only supercharged the situation.   These bots were already getting HARD TO SPOT before intelligent AI made it possible to even mimic human language to a frightening degree.  BUT even as this tech advances rapidly, it is far from perfect.  There are some hallmarks of AI chatbots you can look out for to help you determine WHETHER the 'person' on the other end of the chat REALLY is WHO THEY SAY THEY REALLY ARE.  So, without encouraging you to be cynical, let us do watch out for tell-tale signs that indeed it's AI Bot you're talking to๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

BUT things have changed so swiftly the recent year.  Large language models have rapidly advanced.  They even now have a strong command of English.  Oh YES, it is NOT that often a chatbox will spit something out that makes it sound like it DOESN'T understand the language it is using.  On the other hand, when it DOESN'T understand, it has learned the interrelationships between words to know HOW to arrange them in a way that makes sense to humans.  BUT please be aware that sometimes, some of the words used by bot would sound 'wierd' AS IN.  WHILE words like 'DELVE INTO' and 'TAPESTRY' are NOT damning, that should give you a cue that your 'FRIEND' is actually powered by a large language model๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

One of the most obvious ways to detect with bots is its repetitions.  Bots tend to be 'single-minded' whereas human conversation tends to be fluid, where subjects are introduced, dropped and then picked up again later.  BUT specialized chatbots are usually constructed for specific purposes.  and they will doggedly pursue those purposes NO MATTER WHAT you do.  It's just part and parcel of their baseline instructions.  If you notice that 'PERSON' you're speaking/chatting to by being repetitive, likely you're dealing with a bot๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Our takeaway:  Please DON'T get me wrong. I am NOT implying that let's NOT deal with bots because sometimes they serve our purpose BUT even assuming you need that bot's help, be cautioned that SOMETIMES, their answers are VAGUE [so it DOESN'T serve your need] and SOMETIMES, the speed of bot's responses are SUPER FAST, many times faster than us humans BUT at the end of the day, be aware if you're interacting with a bot.  Happy chat day!!!

Before I get whacked for dousing cold water on AI, our thread today is more on How to increase your DOOMSCROLLING Awareness, that's the long and short of it.  Oh yes, everyone has done it.  We pick up our phone while in a perfectly good mood, only to be inundated with notifications and social media messages bringing you up to speed on the worst news and most infuriating hot takes that humanity can offer.  So, How's your DOOMSCROLLING Awareness???

Suddenly, you feel terrible BUT instead of putting down your phone, you dive in further, feeling that your anxiety seems to be building up with every swipe and tap.  This happens several times a day and YET, we all STILL constantly reach for our phones.  YES, the mind-boggling questions are:  WHY DO WE DO THIS & HOW CAN WE STOP IT?  For alignment, let's trace back how this DOOMSCROLLING jargon came about๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

While Mr Google says DOOMSCROLLING has been around since 2018, it started to steamroll in our lives when we got hit with that dreaded pandemic in 2020.  And to give credit to WHOM it is due, American investigative journalist Karen Ho built that DOOMSCROLLING bot on that site formerly known as Twitter and that bot would remind people to take care of themselves in the midst of the pandemic๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

BUT WHO realized that WHAT DOOMSCROLLING is doing is to rob us of our time, energy + focus WHEN there are much more important things to put focus on.  BUT rather fight DOOMSCROLLING and end up with a pyrrhic victory, let's equip ourselves with the 'BASICs' to spot and even break those NEGATIVE LOOPS [no thanks to DOOMSCROLLING].  Now let's admit it, most of us [and I'm one of the guilty ones], we have that tendency to seek out NEGATIVE news and social media algorithms even would boost it.  So, DOOMSCROLLING is really a habit that emerges in part because of the way the places we get information about the world are organized๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•
Our takeaway:  The things you and me do interact with on services like Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram affect the kinds of information you are likely to show up more in your timeline.  And social networks DON'T have an 'END' as their algorithm will keep showing you NEW things as long as you keep on scrolling.  The perverse thing is that DOOMSCROLLING begins with good intentions.  You want to keep with the news BUT a combination of algorithms and human nature can make you so vulnerable to focus only on the horrible things [AS IF that's the entire story].  Let's be cautious with DOOMSCROLLING dude.  Do recognize your 'triggers' before you get 'hostaged' by social media❗❗❗

Software updates are important and inevitable.  To expand features and patch existing security issues, you need to update your apps and machines. If you avoid updating, you might find certain programs, functions, or even websites stop working as they should.  However, if you visit a website, and you see a prompt to update Chrome in order to proceed, run away. In all likelihood, you just encountered a scam. Don't fall for it.

The scam in question is targeting WordPress websites—10,000 of them, in fact. That's according to c/side, a web security company, whose research uncovered the current attacks.

Here's what's going on: Hackers are hijacking sites that are running outdated versions of WordPress and plugins. (c/side hypothesizes attackers are exploiting a vulnerability in a particular WordPress plugin to execute their schemes.) Attackers are using two types of "popular" malware variants: AMOS (Atomic macOS Stealer), which goes after Apple devices, and SocGholish, which is designed for Windows devices.

When you visit one of these affected websites, hackers override the actual content of the site with a new, fake page.
This manipulated content purports to be an alert that you need to update your browser in order to visit this site, as the page uses "the new chromium engine." The hackers sprinkle in a few different elements on this page to sell the scam, including two different update options, a check box to sign up or automatic usage stats and crash reports, and links to Google's, Chrome's, and ChromeOS' Terms of Service
. You'll also see a Chrome logo, different menu options, and a rendering of a Chrome window.
Our takeaway here:  Let's continue to sharpen our eyes in ensuring that an UPDATE prompt LEGITIMATELY comes from a LEGITIMATE source website owned by the LEGITIMATE software.  As I am a 'full-blown' end-user of Chrome, be literally WATCHFUL because there are tons and tons of Chrome ADD-INs.  Ensure that every ADD-IN is LEGITIMATELY sourced.  To be forewarned is to be forearmed❗❗❗

Why Do We Have 2 Ears & 1 Mouth?

Epictetus, the Greek Philosopher [WHO is more famous for being a slave in Rome & got freed only after Nero's death] has always been well quoted Why Do We Have 2 Ears & 1 Mouth?  To quote him, we got those so that WE CAN LISTEN TWICE AS MUCH AS WE SPEAK. BUT the $64 question is:  Is that prevailing most of the time in our daily lives [and around us]???  I really seriously doubt it❗❗❗

And I vividly remember those same words from my grandma [during her waning years].  I even recall this frank [BUT alas, realistic] unsolicited advice:  STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS.  SOME PEOPLE TALK TO YOU SO THEY CAN TALK ABOUT YOU.  Sounds true?  Me thinks, there is more truth than fiction in that statement.  So, you might ask:  HOW CAN I STOP TELLING PEOPLE and WHEN SHOULD I KNOW I AM AN OVER-SHARERYES, there is that gray line.  WHAT we can do is to pay attention to small things, especially WHEN the exchange veers towards becoming one-sided.  Brevity-wise, think about your PRIVACY.  DON'T share it.  NOT to be cynical, an ill-intentioned one can use it against you❌❌❌

As we do have our strengths and weaknesses, WHERE possible, DON'T share your weakness [WHO knows it may be used against you in the future].  YESSSS, we are entitled to celebrate milestone successes and achievements BUT prior to that, DON'T share as to WHEN you'll start it.  That's just a NO-NO.  NOT even your future plans [UNLESS you are 1000000000% cocksure about its success]!@#$%?

YES, this reminds me of this scenario.  Have you ever been to the wilderness [that could be a hike] WHEN you just stopped and made a point to listen to the sounds of nature?  Less than a year ago, I was in those circumstances WHEN we went hiking at the remote Nunobiki Falls up there in Kobe, Japan.  That was quite an overdue realization for me but as the old cliche goes, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER✅✅✅

Our takeaway:  Let's give more credence [and importance] to LISTENING.  It can be just as rewarding and even hearing a different BUT valuable insight [and often, from a different perspective from yours] can lead you to gain a deeper understanding of things you may [still] be unaware of].  And if it's about feedbacking, it may trigger an idea OR initiative to improve things.  I recall WHEN I resided in Singapore for 8 years, even a tiny, nondescript shop will have a stack of FEEDBACK FORMS atop the nook of their sales counter [and I'll say that 90% of the time, I spent time sharing my feedback [BTW - in most cases, they were positive ones].  Regardless, by sharing that feedback, I am optimistic that our 2 ears and 1 mouth are used MORE proportionately๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„

No sirrrs, I'm not pitching Billy Ocean's song lyrics When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Gets Going.  Out of curiosity, I still did look up the meaning of these lyrics although it's pretty obvious.  BUT in real life, this tells us that WHEN the situation gets difficult, strong people can and MUST step up and handle the escalating situation.  True, there are times to step up and get through something difficult  BUT sometimes, pushing through may NOT be the best option๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Many years ago, my musician first cousin was so eager to teach me playing the guitar BUT after donkey failed attempts, I even 'donated' my guitar.  The thing is, the guitar required me to reach that complete musical sound BUT I just CAN'T.  HOW's that for a good excuse for NOT learning to play the guitar?  Was I too impatient OR perhaps more likely, I just DIDN'T have the drive to learn playing the guitar.  In the business world, however, WHEN difficulties arise, the decision is often made to tough it out WHEN something ISN'T working as planned.  And one of the most common justifications for this is, "WE'VE INVESTED TOO MUCH TO STOP, SO, ALTHOUGH WE KNOW THERE ARE BIG PROBLEMS, LET'S KEEP GOING".  After the dust settles, everyone is patting themselves on the back and calling themselves resilient, successful and even celebrating the outcome.  BUT at what cost???

Now, regardless WHETHER the GOING GETS TOUGH in our personal life or in our professional OR business life, WHEN difficulties start to feeling overwhelming, it's time to pause and ask if it makes sense to be the one singing "THE TOUGH GETS GOING".  Simply put, when the GOING GETS TOUGH, we only have these choices, namely:

  • CHANGE something in the ongoing execution of the plan
  • ACCEPT something as it is and see if you could move on
  • JUST GIVE UP
This is WHEN mental toughness comes in, as that is paramount for achieving any lofty goal OR overcoming extreme hurdles.  Few great things in this world come without a little bit of adversity though.  And nothing amazing happens inside our comfort zones.  WHETHER we are talking about earning a promotion, nurturing a challenged marriage, mastering a sport, building up a startup business OR battling a serious illness, suffering will surface in various forms and shape.  That tells a mouthful  as to why the things we love and work hard are rewarding๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ
Our takeaway:  The psychological traits of grit and RESILIENCE have been widely researched BUT it does still pose a challenge as it relates to how we actually develop mental toughness.  And this brings us back to RESILIENCE.  How do we build it?  Do some people have 'larger sums' in their RESILIENCE bank accounts than others?  Experts state that RESILIENCE is like any muscle.  With focus and determination, you can strengthen your mind to overcome any obstacle WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH❗❗❗
