Connecting The Dots

Connecting The Dots

Did you ever solve dot-to-dot puzzles?  Oh I loved them [especially WHEN I got stuck in-transit at airports due to flight departure delays].  I could sit for hours searching for one number after another.   Seeing the image revealed by Connecting The Dots seemed to hold a magic spell on me, something WHICH I myself CAN'T explain [before and even until now].  That metaphor of Connecting The Dots to learn, to understand, to see with new eyes helps make sense of the unknown.  A new perspective emerges WHEN we can visualize HOW ideas OR concepts interrelate๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Within our families, and even schools and businesses, the world contains a myriad of DOTS within systems and processes.  And to make sense of the world, we tend to be constantly trying to CONNECT THE DOTS.  And language begins with CONNECTING words to things and eventually more abstract concepts and ideas.  As we learn those more complex concepts, our brain naturally searches for something that we already know.  We tend to CONNECT the known to the unknown๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

So, you might ask, WHAT'S the importance of CONNECTING THE DOTSWHEN we tend to underestimate the power of making connections, we create silos in our homes, communities and workplaces.  YES, I have my own DOTS.  And you have your own DOTS as well.  Nature DOESN'T work that way though.  Humans CAN'T work that way.  WHAT happens in our human body WHEN organs stop???
Now, let's spare a minute to look back at the revered Apple genius STEVE JOBS who was widely quoted that "YOU CAN'T CONNECT THE DOTS BY MOVING FORWARD.  YOU CAN ONLY CONNECT THEM LOOKING BACKWARDS".  I can't agree more on that.  Now for some number crunching.  Statistics show that our brains are exposed to [approximately] THIRTY FOUR [YES, that's 34] gigabytes of information PER DAY [YES, that's PER DAY, whew!].  Some of these experiences, memories, OR ideas are inevitably lost forever in the vaults of our minds BUT some of those moments do leave a REAL MEMORY that we can recall at will.  Think of those moments, the ones we can remember, like DOTS IN THE PAST๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
Our takeaway:  WHEN we think about our brain, most people have a vague understanding of HOW we form and store memories.  However, the details about HOW the brain does this are usually limited to experts, WHICH is exactly HOW most things in life work anyway like WHEN we need a mechanic, we do the same.  WHEN we want to really discuss the mechanisms within the brain, this is WHEN we need to get an appreciation that trying to figure out WHAT happens in our brains without having all the information is the same as trying to CONNECT THE DOTS in our own lives.  Dude, let's continue CONNECTING THE DOTS❗❗❗

Is TRYING Really TRYING?

Is TRYING Really TRYING?

We have to admit this.  Human beings are born curious, a trait that we somehow lose as the burdens of responsibility weigh heavily on our shoulders.  TRYING new things is paramount to being successful.  So, WHEN was the last time you did something for the first time?  And after going through it, the outcome was messy. So you wanted to fix it.  And that is life.  Fixing WHAT we completed.  Tweaking WHAT we did.  And even fine-tuning something even if it worked well.  So, the big ASK is,  Is TRYING Really TRYING?  Honestly, in the past, WHENEVER I heard TRYING, I blurted "THAT'S NOT ENOUGH" but I'm ok to do this 180-degree turn to correct the misconception that TRYING IS TRYING [because it is NOT]๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Truth is, there is always that feeling of accomplishment [and we can add DELIGHT] WHEN we try something new.  So, is this your usual routine?  Waking up, getting ready, grabbing a cup of coffee and bagel at the local cafe, work and then buy takeaways for your dinner.  This sounds boring because most of us do this practically almost everyday.  Honestly, I'll be the first one to admit that performing repetitive routine literally saps the life out of our existence [and yes, sometimes, it DOESN'T look healthy].  WHAT do we do then?  WHY DON'T we consider to TRY something new๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

C'mon, I'm sure we NEVER run out of excuses to remain 'mediocre' in life.  Oooops, before I get bashed, I am NOT implying that everyone wants to be mediocre [because surely NO one wants to be one].  BUT in real life though, WHEN we want to remain stuck in our comfort zone, that is by default embracing mediocrity.  So, WHAT can swing us over to initiate NEW things?  HOW about re-emphasizing our strengths?  Do you have a role model?  WHAT qualities enamored you to them?  I am making a wild guess here that their zeal and passion for TRYING new things is one of them.  They must be unapologetic and willing to throw out everything to experience something NEW๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Now, if only we will seek MORE in life, then there might be emptiness that is filled WHEN you try NEW things.  The only way they can do this is by trying something NEW, which will likely boost their confidence and belief in themselves.  WHAT matters as well is our appreciation of other people's experiences.  Besides your immediate circle, aside from WHAT is narrated within your environment, I did stumble across people whose myopic idea of something NEW seem to enlarge their ignorance❎❎❎

Our takeaway:  Let's simplify this web of complexity.  As we learn a new language, OR even as simple as tasting a new food, we are opening ourselves to understand other cultures and people.  We end up gaining insights into the WHYs and HOWs and appreciate them as humans.  As they say, experience is the best teacher BUT admittedly, it can only happen WHEN we try NEW things.  So, is TRYING REALLY TRYING?  Me thinks it is as simple as lifting your finger to TRY something NEW in life๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Anything More Powerful Than ACTION?

Anything More Powerful Than ACTION?

Is there anything else in our daily life that can be Anything More Powerful Than ACTION?  Me thinks NOTHING approximates the POWER of ACTION itself.  No amount of combined talent, intelligence, wealth, opportunities and all the possible alignment of stars can come nearer to approximate the POWER of ACTION.  You can have all the grandiose plans and even announce it to the whole world BUT without ACTION, that is nothing but hollowed words๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

True, often times, we sit and ponder our goals, ambitions, and plans for the future [and that is laudable].  Especially WHEN you are looking for success, everything starts with that planning, WHICH could make OR break the difference.  The biggest issue that comes with planning to do something though, is the fact that there's NO ACTION.  Planning without ACTION is just a thought and more than that๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

So, WHERE do we go from here?  Oh Oh, NOT a tough question.  First, let's write down WHAT our END GOAL is.  For example, if someone WHO is looking to lose weight, then knowing WHAT their target weight is from the start will help them along with assessing and tracking their progress.  Without that preferred END GOAL, trust me, quite likely we WON'T end up with a concrete achievement๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
After writing down your END GOAL, DON'T miss out to establish checkpoints.  Take that weight loss as an example.  UNLESS you target to lose 'x' pounds in 2 months and another 'x' pounds in another 2 months, you will be unable to run the checkpoints we want to.  BUT that's the end of it though.  After writing your END GOAL and having the planned checkpoints, the NEXT STEP is to develop the micro habits towards your goal๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
Our takeaway:  No matter how grandiose one's plan is, akin to man's first landing in the moon by Neil Armstrong, that long road towards achieving your END GOAL starts with the very small steps WHICH, WHEN aggregated, that long road will lead towards the FINISH LINE you want to reach.  Looking back, I can humbly share as well that probably 99% of my successes till to date, I'll attribute it to the ACTUAL ACTION I executed as part of my game plan.  The remaining 1%, I'll credit it to the alignment of the stars.  At the end of the day, there is simply NOTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN ACTION itself❗❗❗

Getting Over The Hump

Getting Over The Hump

Getting Over The Hump is damn easy to blurt out BUT I assure you, no amount of words can lead you in Getting Over The Hump because there are basic things that need to be embedded within you to position yourself at least at that launch pad prior to scaling up or Getting Over The Hump.  AND topping the list is BELIEVING IN YOURSELF. True, it is so easy to get bogged down by self-doubt.  You could even be questioning yourself, your idea, your execution OR even your ability to get through your endeavor๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Having said this, regardless of the odds you're facing, everything starts off with BELIEVING IN YOURSELF.  You can have all the stars aligned, the sun shining and dandy BUT if self-doubt seems to be lingering within you, goddam it, NOT to scare you BUT you are likely doomed to fail sooner if NOT right at the start.  BUT again most of us miss out on something.  Our self-doubt frequently starts to build up because you are losing faith to yourself because you did set unrealistic goals.  If you're constantly reaching for the stars, YES, you're bound to miss the mark from time to time๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

And WHEN you miss your mark, it is almost effortless for you to beat yourself and start to believing that you're NOT good enough.  So, WHAT's our antidote?  Instead of setting lofty goals that are near-impossible to reach, refocus on setting realistic goals that you can actually achieve.  This will help build your confidence and make it easier for you to believe in yourself.  And alongside this, do LOOK BACK at your past mistakes.  Learn from it.  Pick up lessons.  True, they say DON'T look back BUT dude, c'mon pick up those lessons๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Let's accept this harsh truth.  NOBODY's perfect and everyone makes mistakes.  I would [NOT proudly though] admit that I committed tons and tons of mistakes BUT there's an upside and a lot.  I learned tons and tons of lessons from each of my fumbling acts, with the resoluteness NOT to repeat even one of those previous foul-ups.  Surprisingly, I hardly recall committing the same mistake because I kept reminding myself that was a NO-NO to ever happen again because it's INEXCUSABLE๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Our takeaway:  On top of all these, leverage on your strengths.  True, it is so easy to get caught up with your weaknesses and dwell on WHAT you're NOT GOOD at.  BUT if you want to get through and succeed, it is damn important to focus on your strengths instead.  Think about about everything that makes you UNIQUE, and gives you that competitive edge in life and thereafter, build up from your foundational strengths.  Trust me, WHEN you focus on your strengths, it will be significantly easier for you to believe in yourself and your ability to succeed.  With humility, I think it is unfathomable [and crazy] for me to have hurdled almost [NOT all though because I admit, there were a few humps here and there which I failed to hurdle at all]  I would NOT be WHAT I am today if I failed to GET OVER THE HUMP [most of the time]❗❗❗

What Really Goes Beyond The Scene, WE DON'T KNOW

What Really Goes Beyond The Scene, WE DON'T KNOW

Allow me to quote verbatim this Quora.com post by Mandi Shre:  I was queueing at the gas station and it was taking a long time for the vehicle in front and he overheard the cashier telling the lady driver at the front cashier that her credit card was declined BUT the former insisted that her credit card was fine.  Sensing something, the driver in the next vehicle volunteered to pick the tab for 2 gallons of fuel for the lady's car.  Another driver volunteered to add up another 5 gallons for the lady driver who, upon learning of the unexpected kindness from the 2 strangers, she cried and admitted she just started in her new job and was waiting for her first paycheck.  What Really Goes Beyond The Scene, WE DON'T KNOW๐Ÿ“˜๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“—

WHEN we hear 'YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING THROUGH' sounds like a mother's well-advised admonition to her children.  YES, I'll admit that a few times in the past, I did blurt it out as well and those words ring true IF we stop a moment to think about it.  And in our fast-paced, busy cultures, we do race past one another, forming immediate judgments WITHOUT pausing to truly understand one another.  Heard of a work colleague WHO caused one fumbling act after another, and later was reprimanded by the boss and was issued an HR disciplinary memo?  DID someone exert efforts to understand that employee's personal circumstances?  Was he/she going through serious personal problems?  About relationships?  Financials? OR did a family member receive a heartbreaking medical diagnosis???
Did you come across these poetic lines yet?
BEFORE YOU JUDGE A MAN, WALK A MAN IN HIS SHOES.  THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS AS THEY SEEM.  DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.  Translating in layman's terms, judging before seeking to understand is one habit we would do well to break.  I remember WHEN I attended the Stephen Covey course on 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE, we were told how he learned that you never know WHAT someone else is going through.  And Stephen Covey mortified at the prior [wrong] assumption he'd so confidently made about the silent man on the bus and his misbehaving children๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง
Sadly, many of us do err [or probably did err in the past [just like me once OR twice]] WHEN we fail to discover HOW desperate life can seem for some [at a time when your life is everything shining and dandy], HOW hard one can try and things still go wrong, until suffering hits home.  Under its terrible weight, we remember others WHO we were vaguely aware of suffered at one time, BUT we seem to be too busy, too focused on our own point of view [WHICH sometimes is off-track]❌❌❌
Our takeaway:  It's true that for WHATEVER reason, we could NOT see them, nevertheless listen to them.  Life can be painful and we need to learn to see and listen to each other. Remember, life revolves around in circles.  WHEN you're up, there's no way to go BUT down.  And vice-versa.  The most regrettable situation we can cause to stir is WHEN our propensity to prematurely judge people based on assumptions that are founded mostly on 'surface-level' variables of an equation.  On the same breadth, knock on wood, we DON'T want others to prematurely judge us BUT before that happens with our own selves on the receiving end, let us NOT forget that WHAT REALLY GOES BEYOND THE SCENE, we don't know๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

That Gap Between SUCCESS And FAILURE

That Gap Between SUCCESS And FAILURE

So sorry for this boring breaking news:  It is NOT a fact that there is a HUGE gap between SUCCESS and FAILURE.  YES for outliers.  NO for most of the time.  In fact, studies proved that Gap Between SUCCESS And FAILURE is as minuscule as you could think about. To quantify it based on studies, most of the time, that GAP is approximately 5%, i.e. 5% MORE effort OR or LESS effort.  And to put things in the right perspective, let us NOT gloss over the fact that famous successful names like Steve Job, Henry Ford and Thomas Edison all have one thing in common.  They all FAILED in the past.  And if we go through their memoirs, they will detail out their chronic and recurring FAILURES before they hit paydirt๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง
And WHAT's most intriguing is that studies show that in most cases, the GAP between SUCCESS and FAILURE is NOT as wide as the Red Sea.  In fact, to inject a number, the studies pegged it to somewhere 5% MORE or LESS.  HOW and WHERE do we map that 5% GAP may be challenging from a macro level but if one will do a post-mortem, it could be those quite small variables that turned out to be the GAME-CHANGER๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
From a 'helicopter view' of things, the difference between SUCCESS and FAILURE could likely be having that POSITIVE MINDSET that will put you on the right path forward.  You just have to find out WHICH road you want to thread and HOW to get through that FINISH LINE, which from the outset may seem elusive and quite a wild shot to attempt hitting it.  YES, it has to do with MINDSET and that's everything in it๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
All things being equal, it is even immaterial if you are somebody struggling from the Third World OR someone WHO's on top of his game in Wall Street.  YES, we all have one common thing that we need to have and that's the SELF-CONFIDENCE and this comes from having a POSITIVE MINDSET.  Take out that POSITIVE MINDSET from the variable. sadly, it will be a 'shot in the moon' for you to have that SELF-CONFIDENCE✅✅✅
Our takeaway:  it happens time and again.  Two people having the same opportunity, same approach, same blueprint for success and in the business world, maybe they have the same mentor.  One makes six figures while the other FAILS or simply gives up.  WHAT's the difference?  Likely, it's their MINDSET.  WHY?  That is the very building blocks of SUCCESS, without it, the foundation can crumble and collapse when storms inevitably hit you.  Indeed, that GAP BETWEEN SUCCESS and FAILURE may NOT be that huge after all๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—๐Ÿ˜—

Consider The SENSE OF SCALE

Consider The SENSE OF SCALE

NOT all things are UNFATHOMABLE.  In fact, most things are.  You DON'T need to second-guess or even make assumptions.  WHEN all the irrefutable facts are there, when there is NOTHING else beyond the deck of cards laid out on the table, then do Consider The SENSE OF SCALE when you're about to draw conclusions.  Otherwise, drawing conclusions based on guestimates and a lot of 'iffffy' statements will never make sense๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜
In real life, to draw a SENSE OF SCALE will need us to simply stick on facts, e.g. if Bill Gates has a net worth of US$ 56 billion, it means he's earning roughly $3,000 per minute [so that's $50 per second] ever since he founded Microsoft [together with his ex-wife Melinda].  So, it is quite easy to draw this conclusion that it DOESN'T make sense for him to spend 5 seconds to pick $100 off the floor.  Just NOT A GOOD USE of his time.  This is drawing a SENSE OF SCALE in real terms๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ
So, if you're like me, that second statement will just make your jaw drop, right?  WHY?  Because 56 billion is just a number BUT $3,000 per minute is something vivid enough to crystallize the numbers in real, imaginable terms.  So, how do we develop that SENSE OF SCALE in life?  Let's consider comparing SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE.  A common way to put things in perspective is to literally line them up, side by side so to speak.  In short, we need to consider evolving to become 'visual creatures'✅✅✅
Truth is, human nature explains WHY we like to see NOT just to imagine abstract numbers.  To our brains, a million or billion and even trillion all seem like large, vague numbers.  Oh yes, even after Steve Jobs died, Tim Cook of Apple knows this well enough.  Many of their ads compare products to everyday objects, rather than touting their raw dimensions.  WHAT do we hear?  THE MACBOOK FITS IN A MANILA ENVELOPE.  THE iPOD NANO IS AS THICK AS A PENCIL.  YES, you'll get their sizes without busting out a ruler❗❗❗
Our takeaway:  YES it may seem backwards that casual measurements like a pencil's width can be more useful than a count of millimeters BUT hey dude, we are NOT machines!!!  Our everyday life is with pencils, NOT millimeters and we can easily imagine HOW much room a pencil takes.  Zeroing on our life, it helps that we talk things out in concrete, real-life terms, NOT the literary way of verboseness.  Consider the SENSE OF SCALE, dude๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ

A 'PILE OF GOLD' Is NOT All In Life

A 'PILE OF GOLD' Is NOT All In Life

Apologies for non-basketball aficionados as I'm starting our thread today related to breaking news from the hoops [NBA basketball] world.  When I woke up this morning, the first thing I checked was IF Dan Hurley [the celebrated back-to-back champion coach of UConn [University of Connecticut] accepted that juicy 6-year $70 Million offer from the LA Lakers to be their Head Coach. Fyi, he turned down that offer in favor of his current $32 Million UConn contract he signed off last 2023. Alas, he turned down that 'PILE OF GOLD'.  Indeed, that's NOT All In Life๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

YES, as much as we all love monies monies monies, that PILE of GOLD is NOT ALL IN LIFE.  UConn Coach Dan Hurley turning down that $70 Million offer from the Lakers' Jennie Buss is only the latest reaffirmation that tons and tons of monies DO NOT unlock the kind of happiness one really wants or deserves in life.  I can attest to that because to the shock of people who were aware of my decision points, I decided to renounce my [very coveted] Singapore citizenship in favor of reacquiring my original citizenship by going to the Nassim Road Embassy and take my oath of allegiance [to reacquire my original citizenship]๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

Somehow, I CAN'T wrap my mind around the idea that in today's society, money ISN'T everything.  I feel that most of us [if NOT everyone] is trying to build a case against money and support their argument with fluffy concepts that have NO practical effect on their daily struggles. Ok, in your humble opinion, if life is NOT all about money, then WHAT is it about?  Is it going on a movie binge, streaming in Netflix or Viu?  OR is it playing that addicting mobile apps games?  OR is it gossiping about friends online [even with people you NEVER met yet]?  Is it about pretending to connect with people you DON'T even care via social media?  OR WHAT???

BUT let's face the stark truth.  HOW much money ISN'T everything if your hands CAN'T reach any of that stuff without cash, YES even love and relationships cost money [otherwise HOW can you sustain it]?  Let me piggy-back here the advice from psychologists WHO claim that THINGS CAN control our time.  .  How often do we hear, "I'VE GOT SO MANY THINGS TO DO".  Oh YES, when you say that, you feel a SENSE OF SUCCESS, really???

Our takeaway:  I'd like to make reference to the study by noted psychologist Robert Kenny WHO decided to study people with net worth above $25 Million.  Lo and behold, his study showed that while MONEY eased many aspects of these people's lives, it made other aspects MORE difficult.  I remember often hearing people say that their greatest aspiration in life was to be a GOOD PARENT, NOT exactly the stereotype some might expect.  WHEN asked whether their MONEY helps with that, they answered with all the obvious stuff like good schools, travel, security, name it.  BUT WHEN asked HOW their MONEY gets in the way, they had a payload of a response, repeatedly stating that MONEY is NOT always helpful.  Some were even concerned with MOTIVATION as they were worried if their children DIDN'T have enough MONEY, WHAT will MOTIVATE them?  Indeed, a PILE OF GOLD IS NOT ALL [that is needed] in life๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜–

Fight OR Flight?

Fight OR Flight?

I am NOT in the medical or science fields BUT that does NOT excuse me from digesting the ramifications of STRESS to our health.  Experts tell us then WHEN under STRESS, our body releases hormones that can cause blood glucose levels to increase.  This may cause adverse symptoms to people with diabetes.  Experts tell us that WHEN you're experiencing STRESS, our body reacts.  And that is called the Fight OR Flight RESPONSE which to us laymen is hitherto unknown.  Quite frightening to learn that our body reacts in ways that is beyond our visuals BUT the ramifications run deep beneath๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“™๐Ÿ“˜

Apparently, during this response, our body releases adrenaline and cortisol into our bloodstream and our respiratory rate increases.  This can increase blood glucose levels if the body CAN'T adequately process it.  Worst of all worst things, with constant STRESS from long-term problems with blood glucose, medical experts tell us that it can wear us down mentally and physically.  And if one is suffering from diabetes, things will never be less difficult๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

Apparently there are different types of STRESS that can worsen one's medical situation if he/she is confirmed to be diabetic.  And I CAN'T agree less when they say that STRESS can affect people differently.  And the type of STRESS that one experiences can have an impact on our body's physical response. And things just worsen when it comes to diabetics❎❎❎

From a layman's perspective, the perplexing question is, is living a life without STRESS a pipe dream.  NO sirrrrrrs, setting aside all the medical arguments, while natural calamities and disasters are NOT man-made, most of the STRESSORS are human-made๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Œ
Our takeaway:  WHETHER you're ALL IN for a fight OR you'll take flight, we always hear that running away from a 'FIGHT' or a STRESS can be a bad idea because it can make the situation more dangerous.  They say running away can trigger the aggressor's predator drive, WHICH is our natural instinct to chase after escaping prey.  Having said that, psychologists claim that it's okay to walk away from a fight if it's WHAT you need for your welfare and safety BUT it takes eXtra strength, eXtra self-control and eXtra smarts.  At the end of the day, WHETHER you will go for a FIGHT or take FLIGHT, it behooves that you will arrive at an informed decision❗❗❗

To Be PATHOLOGICALLY OPTIMISTIC

To Be PATHOLOGICALLY OPTIMISTIC

YES, there is that raging debate [in the background though] WHETHER it is right OR wrong To Be PATHOLOGICALLY OPTIMISTIC?  In my daily debrief this morning with Channelnewsasia, I was floored with that 'tectonic plate' shaking breaking news that TESLA shareholders have approved Elon Musk's ['UNFATHOMABLE'] US$ 56Billion pay package, whew AS IN whew!@#$%? The BIGGEST question I asked myself is how the hell was Elon Musk able to secure that BIG thumbs up via the shareholders approval?  Reflective of his persona, the mercurial Elon Musk unabashedly admitted he has proven to be a PATHOLOGICAL OPTIMIST!!!

YES, that Channelnewsasia breaking news this morning did trigger me to have this PATHOLOGICAL OPTIMISM as our thread today.  WHY?  NOT because of Elon Musk BUT because I realized many of us would have replicated [even by a fraction] that PATHOLOGICAL OPTIMISM which Elon Musk has consistently manifested through the years ever since this college dropout dived into the pool of a very few unique success stories till to date๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ’ฅ

With humility, much as I CAN'T and SHOULDN'T claim even a fraction of Elon Musk's successes, I would rather admit that many times [if NOT most of the time], I am admittedly a pathological optimist, one WHO would see a GLIMMER of HOPE even if dark clouds are hovering all over me.  For me, the key here is the intention and NOT the size of the risk.  Instead, it's all about WHY you take it๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

YES, let's consider taking an equally BIG risk BUT as the axiom says it, A SWALLOW DOES HARDLY MAKE A SPRING.  As a personal affirmation, I can attest that a big chunk of my past setbacks could be attributed to my optimism [which was by default more often].  BUT do I now regret my default optimism?  NO sirrrs, NOT at all.  On the other hand, I'll attribute most of my successes  to my tendencies to be PATHOLOGICALLY OPTIMISTIC.  You could have a failed start BUT it's how you pick the pieces again❎❎❎

Our takeaway:  While everyone of us is entitled to be OPTIMISTIC, we must ensure that both our feet are always grounded.  WHY?  Because OPTIMISM that is based on shaky grounds will NOT able to withstand any tectonic plates that may shake in the future.  Let us visualize basic structures where the foundations are NOT firmly grounded.  Knock on wood, when 'earth-shaking' things will happen on the ground, it is NOT far fetched to anticipate the structure from crumbling down and eventually collapsing.  In a nutshell, whether your OPTIMISM is more of an outlier OR we swing over that you are a PATHOLOGICAL OPTIMIST, either way is apt and correct as long as you can buttress the foundations as to WHERE your OPTIMISM stands in life๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Straight from my thought processes...
