Losing Momentum in Life
We all value the ignition key, the switch and the starter and once things get ignited, we lose sight of the need to keep the momentum going in life. And when get stuck and stalled, we'll pull out a rabbit and rattle an endless litany of reasons which caused you to get It is stalled [a.k.a. FAILED]. With a flurry of RCA's [root cause analysis], fingers will be pointed all over the place but guess what remains unsaid and/or missed most of the time? It is the ROOT CAUSE for losing that momentum when all along, the locomotive train was in full speed. And guess what's today's most common suspect for the ROOT CAUSE of losing the momentum in life? Politely, let's tag it as technology but to be blunt about it, the common and recurring culprit is SOCIAL MEDIA. Remember that student who was burning the midnight oil because of a next day final exams? Or a relationship that was so warm and genuine inside out until one day it went sour? Or a newly wed couple when the honeymoon seemed over so soon?
Or at the workplace, after you got onboarded, everyone was impressed of you. You even received commendations from your clients. Until one day, all you heard was kabooooom! There, you lost your momentum. Or have you heard of entrepreneurs whose sales revenues were going beyond the rafters until one day you heard the coffers drying up unexpectedly. Think about it, what is the common denominator of all those debacles? Simple. They all lost their momentum. The whole train locomotive just went kaput.
So, the most common question is when do I realize that it is TIME FOR A COMEBACK? The answer is a four letter word spelled A-S-A-P. As soon as you detect that the velocity has changed or when acceleration suddenly turns into deceleration or when things start 'to go south', it's time to BREAK THAT GLASS IN CASE of EMERGENCY' and summon whatever is left in your fuel tank to turnaround the situation. What could be the worst blunder? That is, if you commit back-to-back blunders. That's alarming.
Why is it a cause for alarm if you are unable to realize that you got to BREAK THAT GLASS IN CASE of EMERGENCY' ? Simple. That is your last chance to avert a disaster, a failure or worst, a crisis. Now, when someone reaches that FAILED END, do we think you still have that china man's chance to turn things around. Frankly and bluntly, at that point in time, you have lost and missed your last chance to turn things around. Which means, when things are BEYOND REPAIR, your most optimistic option is to REBUILD, to RESET, to RESTART all over again. Imagine the tons of effort and time you need to re-invest again WHEN EVERYTHING IS DOWN? Folks, let us not wait for our backs to be turned against the wall because by that time, the odds will be stacked against us.
